OUGD504 Brief 3 - Binds

DO ME

Sadle stitch

This is a simple stitch and easy to bind with, the book lays flat
once bound although the appearance of the bind is of lower quality than
say a japanese bind.

To do this bind you should use an awl or drill if there is a substantial
amount of paper, then start from the middle outwards.

Coptic Bind

This is complex bind and require a large amount of content as to create
this you need to make segments, I have previous used this bind in
design principles - Although this bind is beautiful it can so very easily
go wrong if you do not bind tight enough the pages will be very loose.

Hard back
This bind is very common and easy to do but similarly at the same time
appear professional. Not only this the book is more durable.

Japanesse bind
This is one of my favourite binds it is not only easy to but also looks
creative and beautiful the only downside to this bind is the amount of
margin needed to be left, if designing for this bind you must consider
margins.
