Lion Latch - In Context/ Final Evaluation
After settling on a design for the Lion Latch, I have created a number
of mock up's to show how my logo can be used.
Brand Guidelines:
- The logo can be used in any colour for personalisation as the product itself
comes in many colours. Using a different colour scheme to bronze, black and white
will need to compliment each other.
- The logo type is only to be used when the lion icon cannot be scaled down
to be perfectly visible.
- The logo should be used on everything associated with the brand.
The logo is versatile meaning it can be used on many objects and networks,
it can be almost any colour seen fit. It is currently in a metallic bronze colour
this is because of its connotation to luxury, jewellery and the colour of a
lion.
The design is sophisticated and not over complicated by making the design
with these qualities it targets a market for people who have jewellery
worth looking after and want to protect there valuables and sentimentals!
The product itself would be advertised online through a easy to use and
clear website but also containing to the brand guidelines. It will be contained
in a simple card box with the logo foiled onto the side alternatively screen printed
because it is cost effective. As the product is around $15 to buy the packaging
needs to be reasonably cheap - by the logo being able to work in many colour
schemes this means the client would have to option to chose black and white for
cost purposes.
The logo is inspired by both the product and its name, the lion suggests
strength and protection by keeping the lion in the design it needed to be
simple, to do this the design has been done using shapes and lines. To
show the use of the actual product the design contains a diamond vector
symbolising the physical protection and safety on your jewellery and
valuables.
Re-branding the lion latch has made me consider deadlines, and guidelines
in depth - this has opened my eyes, as a client will not be impressed if the
work isn't finished on time or to requirements. This brief has made me realise
I need to manage my time better because everything is catching up with me
and it is not how I want the rest of the year to continue.
My logo design itself I feel is successful because of its versatility
I am happy with my outcome at first I struggled with direction which
led it to taking over the set deadline. When I went past the deadline this was
the kick i needed to get myself to decide on a design and go with it. Overall
I enjoyed designing for the Lion Latch it was interesting to almost in effect
do a live brief from this brief I have learnt more about my design process
and feel like I am slowing defining my style and personality into my design.
