Mind map ideas to help write self written brief.
(Directly correlating to brief 2/3)
When writing my own brief within the requirements of Brief 4 I
decided to mind map questions of importance to help me figure the
direction in when id like to to my work.
Target Audience Possibilities?
- Adults
- Children
- Teens
- Young Adults
- Pensioners
Majority of these target audiences commute which means my target
audience does not necessarily need to target a specific age range but
target a similarity between them - I am going to set my audience to
commuters.
Problems with the train system - that I could improve
- Tickets - Don't suit all purposes
- Not all a digital system
- Reciepts and tickets being separate?
- Ticket holders for the ticket are liable to break
- Tickets un-ecconimical - Remove colour, become digital?
- Ticket gates are slow to pass through
- Theres no map in station - current map is good but could be simpler.
Everyone uses public transport so it would be a better service if tickets
were electronic or scannable to get through the platform barriers
quicker making every commuter do this would improve service and
speed up time taken to get through especially at rush hour. A map that
clearly identifies how the system worked would improve service for
new commuters.
Feedback (Informal Crit on Ideas)
If taking the map idea forward you should look at harry becky work on
underground map design and if its possible to simplify it further - I have
a basic idea of harry beck's work I could look at re-desiging the west
yorkshire map or a small area in the same/similar style or change it to
my own style.

Digital tickets would definitely speed the process up of travel - I can look
into designing a simple ticket which can be used on phones the only
issue is that it would exclude people who don't own phones.
An app would be useful - I could add to the existing train app which informs
you of train times and add a simplified map alongside the capability
of purchasing and using digital tickets almost like a passbook.
