ideally I would like to use a simple fold due to the brief being a week
long if i chose a more complex fold i may come across some difficulties
setting up they layout and realistically if i were to create the document
as a complex fold it would be very costly to be printed at a commercial
printers.
I did a variation of folds over the session and then picked out some of
my favourite folds to describe in more detail.
Mountain Fold
To create this fold you will need an A4 piece of paper diagonally cut
off the top of the paper then fold as many ways as you wish.
Square Fold
Take an a4 sheet fold 3 times length ways then again and again the
opposite direction. The cut away the sides to create a cross like
so...
Double leaflet fold
A4 card fold into four as shown one fold will be bigger than the
others the other folds should then fold in the smaller sections.
Triangle/Pyramid fold
Take an A4 sheet and fold 2 corners (landscape) in to create a pyramid
then fold the corner in again the take the side of the sheet you haven't folded
and turn in the corners once you will be left with a strip then fold the strip
inwards to finish off with.
Letter Fold
To create this fold you need square paper fold all corners inwards
diagonally to look like a letter then fold the piece in half so it looks
like a small leaflet.
After experimenting with different types of folds in the class we decide
which was the ultimate fold! Drew's complicated fold looks great and
folds really well although practically it would be expensive to reproduce
a one off would be the cheapest soloution.
For this brief ideally I need to consider what stock I should use as almost
all these designs require a reasonably thick malleable piece of card
so the folds stay in the paper rather than being unaffordable or too
flimsy!
