OUGD504 Brief 4 - Wireframe for phone app

Before starting my designs for my phone app I created a basic
wireframe for me to use as a start point to continue these further
I will use my desktop version as a inspiration. Instead of using the
desktop version as the design I would like to add changes to make
the use of the website easier for phone use such as enlarging text
and icons and also even menus and navigation.

OUGD504 Brief 4 - Typeface Research

After the feedback crit with only I decided it was important for
me to choose a typeface that is able to be used on the internet
to find this I looked through google web fonts - I found out that
the typeface I am actually using for titles and body cope is accessible
for internet use 'Karla'

OUGD504 Brief 4 - Feedback from ONLY

At this stage I was well on the way with my design and interface.
For the crit I showed and explained my designs/wireframes and ideas.
I created my designs digitally as it made sense being it for a website,
I also experimented with using a website builder called just in mind
this allowed me to add interactions to my website, although non functioning
it gave a broad idea on how my websites structure would work visually
rather than flat onto paper.

My questions?

Does my idea engage with my target audience? both
supporters and non supporters of mumford and sons?

It is really hard to target such a broad age range/audience, but by keeping
the design and interface simple it would be easy for most age groups to use
both young and old. The design at this point is very modern which demonstrates
the changes between sounds of mumford and sons I think you need to add
elements that personalise the band so it feels less clinical this could be as
simple as adding hand rendered type the only issue with this is that it would
only be usable as images because of type restrictions on the web this is
something you should consider.

Is my concept clear? - Reveal, a change

Yes the puzzle idea is different and very interactive with the audience, although
I like your idea you should pick one point of navigation as at the moment
there are 2 by having one point of navigation it will make it easier for the
consumer to use e.g. either left and right OR up and down not both.

Does my typeface and minimalist design work?

The typeface is really bold and simple this aesthetic really represents the
current bands appearance although have you checked to see if this is a
internet font? Can you use it on the internet?

Is there anything I can do to improve my design/user ability?

Comments

Your sign up page is clever and will encourage people to unlock your content
I suggest to incorporate social media for ease you then would have the option to sign
up via Facebook.. etc like other sites with a similar sign up have this makes
the audience more likely to sign up because it entails less effort.

Have you considered designing for another screen size like a phone application?

My response - There are many things that Only have helped give both
constructive and positive I plan to focus on key areas which I feel are
most important:

  • Typeface both personality and usability online
  • The way in which my site navigates
  • Facebook sign in
  • And designing for another type of screen

OUGD504 Brief 4 - Website So Far

Furthering on from my design and wireframes my current idea and
design is based on reveal for each day a new puzzle piece shall be
revealed. When signing up with the site you will have the option to win
and collect exclusive prizes. I have several pages;
  • Main page
  • About
  • Pre-Order
  • Puzzle
  • Skype
  • Forum
  • Letter reveal
My page navigates 4 ways which at first I felt this was a great idea but
I have soon realised it is not. Having more than 2 directions becomes
complicated and tedious for the user after asking my peers I have decided
I need to reconsider this navigation and refer back to my more simpler wire-
frames I feel the overall user experience of my site will be more pleasant
with an easier navigation due to the amount of content I wish to share. Before
developing this further I will present this to ONLY in hopes of constructive
criticism so I can improve my site as at the moment I don't feel happy with
my outcome.

OUGD504 Brief 4 - Campaign Research

http://www.frednasen.com/creative-music-campaigns-ideas/

Bob Dylan's Album Campaign

In 2013 Bob Dylan created an interactive music video to promote
his new album, the video simulates a tv having several channels
which you can flick through every channel has a different programme
but one thing in common the characters in each programme lip sync
Bob Dylans track. It not only has the ability to change channels but to
turn the volume up and down looking exactly how a tv would appear.

Le Le Misque

Le Le Misque also used similar techniques using instagram to
promote their album each day a new sound clip would be released with
an accompanying animation in their distinctive style. This is a engaging
way of attracting the attention of audience by persuading them to continue
to refer back to the site to find out more, which ultimately entices them
to buy their album!
